Simonstown's SFC hopes died after they missed numerous chances to claim the win they needed as their match with Blackhall Gaels finished all square at Walterstown.

Simonstown were slow into stride but Shane O'Rourke registered three first half points to keep Simonstown in contention as they trailed by 0-5 to 1-5 at the break.
O'Rourke was again on target early in the second half scoring two points and leading the Simonstown comeback. Referee Joey Curley awarded Simonstown a penalty following a foul on Seamus Kenny after 16 minutes of the second half, but Wayne McCarthy's spot kick was saved.
Indiscipline hurt the Navan side as Blackhall Gaels only scored 1-1 from play with the remaining nine points coming from frees, a number of which were moved closer to goals for dissent.
Sean Tobin leveled the game with a point with a couple of minutes to go but Simonstown could not make their possession count and missed a number of chances which would have put them through to a quarter-final.
Niall McMahon and Michael O'Rourke played well for Simonstown in the backs, while Paul Meade impressed at midfield. Up front Shane O'Rourke, Sean Tobin and substitute John Lunney impressed in the forward line.
