June 09, 2008
Jamie Queeney was on fire for Na Fianna in their IFC clash with Oldcastle
Jamie Queeney was the star of the show with 3-8 as Na Fianna ran out 11-point winners over Oldcastle in the IFC.
Na Fianna 4-13
Oldcastle 2-8
The game was played in humid conditions which players found difficult. The first half was a close game and at half time Na Fianna were winning 3-5 to 2-5. In the second half Na Fianna rallied together and improved their performance through out the field. Na Fianna scored 1-8 in the second half while Oldcastle scored 1-3. Oldcastle found it difficult to handle Jamie Queeney and Harrison Silke as both players were causing problems for the Oldcastle defence. It was an overall good team performance by Na Fianna.
Sean Griffin (centre half back) kept the half forwards of Oldcastle under control while there was a good strong performance by the midfield pairing of Ronan McMahon and Thomas Cosgrave. The full forward line of Harrison Silke, Jamie Queeney and John Farrell proved too hot to handle for the Oldcastle fullback line. Jason Hendricks led the charge from the half forward line & made his presence known.
