Donaghmore/Ashbourne secured their second successive MFC title at Pairc Tailteann on Friday evening when they easily accounted for St Cianan's (1-13 to 1-7). Donaghmore/Ashbourne …………. 1-13 St Cianan's …………………..……. 1-7 Apart from a nervy opening in which they failed to score for eight minutes, Donaghmore/Ashbourne were always in control and St Cianan's never looked likely to cause an upset. John Broderick was the best player on show and he recording a personal tally of 1-4, all of which came from play and his goal in the last minute of the first half killed off any hopes of a contest materialising. Broderick was on the end of a well worked move in which Brian Snowe and Stephen Kavanagh were both involved and dispatched an unstoppable shot, low to the corner of the net to hand Donaghmore/Ashbourne a 1-4 to 0-3 interval lead. It was one way traffic for the majority of the second half as Donaghmore/Ashbourne made an early burst for the finishing line with Andrew Tormey, Gavin Kennedy and Broderick popping over points in the early minutes of the second half. Mark Collins did give the St Cianan's following some grounds for optimism when he netted entering the final quarter to reduce the deficit to 1-5 to 1-10 but Donaghmore/Ashbourne always had that little bit in hand and John Tormey, Broderick and Stephen Dervan added a sheen of gloss to the scoreline with late points.
