Trim leave Cortown in trouble
August 29, 2005
Trim maintained their 100% record in the final group game of the senior championship to ensure that Cortown must contest a three way relegation playoff.
Trim 2-16
Cortown 0-5
Cortown went into a two points to one lead early on but Trim scored 2-11 without reply before Cortown scored three late points. Most of the Trim scores were from play with the highlights being points from well worked moves scored by Michael Lowther and Ronan Fitzsimons and points scored by Richie Fitzsimons from both feet.
Paul Gilsenan scored a penalty after being fouled himself and Conor O' Keeffe scored a long distance point to leave Trim ahead by 1-9 to 0-2 at the interval.
An early second half goal by substitute Kevin Meehan wrapped up the tie.
Overall a good team performance against very poor opposition with the half back line of Darren Fay, Maudie Power and Barry Sheridan as well as Ronan Fitzsimons at midfield providing the springboard for the success.
