Ollie Murphy's dad makes Fermanagh Team of the Century

July 04, 2005
Benny Murphy, father of Meath attacker Ollie, has been selected on the recently-announced Fermanagh Team of the Century. While Ollie is widely regarded as one of the most inspirational forwards in the modern game, father Benny made his reputation as a teak tough defender. The Kinawley clubman manned the Erne County full back line for almost two decades and took no prisoners in a province renowned for hard football. Benny is named at right corner back on the Fermanagh Team of the Century, with the full back line completed by Ciaran Campbell of Tempo and Teemore's Tommy Clarke. Though born in Dublin and sworn to the Meath cause, Ollie has inherited his father's love for Fermanagh GAA and has been known to make the journey to Brewster Park on occasion to see Benny's fellow countymen in action.
