Convention: warning of three testing financial years ahead

December 08, 2015

Meath Treasurer Brendan Dempsey

Outgoing Meath GAA County Committee treasurer Brendan Dempsey warned that there are three difficult years coming up, up to September 2018, at the annual convention in the Navan O'Mahonys centre.

The Trim clubman said that an additional €74,000 per annum will have to be found for loan repayments and former treasurer Pat Clerkin agreed that difficult times lie ahead.

Dempsey reported that there was a drop of six per cent on gate receipts in 2015 but figures for underage games showed a healthy profit.

Overall the surplus for the year was €239,026 compared to €184,680 for 2014. Hurling Committee chairman T. J. Reilly suggested that this year's surplus was very low.
