Farrell guns down Colmcille
December 02, 2002
Two goals from Meath minor star Brian Farrell inspired Nobber to a 2-3 to 0-6 victory over Longford's Colmcille in the Leinster club junior football tournament semi-final at Dromard on Sunday, December 1 last.
Farrell scored the opening goal after 23 minutes and added a second just before the interval after Colmcille goalkeeper Aidan Sheridan had fumbled substitute Padraic Fox's initial shot.
In between the two goals, Colmcille's Noel Farrell had a penalty saved by Nobber 'keeper Declan McMahon. At half-time, Nobber led by 2-1 to 0-2 with Declan Farrell accounting for both of Colmcille's scores.
The home side rallied in the second half but were unable to make up the deficit as Nobber progressed to the final where they will meet Moorefield of Kildare.
