A late Colin Duignan goal was the icing on the cake as Blackhall Gaels were beaten 3-11 to 0-8 in the IFC. Duleek went into this game unbeaten from two outings. With wins over Drumree and Carnaross under their belt Duleek went into this game without the influenical midfielder Karl McDonnell -out through injury. Also missing were defenders Andy Murphy and Gordon Hynes. Blackhall Gaels went into an early three points to 1 lead after 10 mins of play. Then a high centrewas caught by Aonghus Fives who netted from close range to go ahead. Points from Conal McGinley, Peter Curran (free) and Fives followed before Blackhall got their next score - a point in the 28th minute. Duleek went in a goal to the good at half time 1:04 to 0:04. Honours were very much even in the first half the Byrne brothers, Aodgan & Ciaran together with Stephen Murphy keeping the Blackhall forwards at bay. Early points in the second half from Colin Duignan and Michael Johnson were added to with a penalty from Curran after he was fouled in the square. Blachall did reply with a pointed free. At this stage the Duleek forwards were getting some very good service from the two midfielders - Bartle Lenehan and Tony Cunningham. Kenny McDonnell got on the score sheet with two excellent points taken on the run from the right hand side of the pitch. Again in this period Stephen Murphy was on top of this game with some fine attacking play from the right half back slot. In the final quarter Duleek added four unanswered points to stun Blackhall. Duignan finished off what was a very good all round performance by Duleek by scoring a goal and a point in the 59th & 60th minutes.
