IFC: Hard fought win for Ratoath

Ratoath's Conor McGill
Rath Tó 2-9
Ballinabrackey 0-11

Ratoath marched on in their championship campaign with a hard fought win over Ballinabrackey tonight in a match played under lights in Longwood.

It was Eamonn Barry's men who made the better start with two well worked goals from Bryan MacMahon and Joey Wallace and a point from Eamonn Wallace. It would take until the 15th minute before their opponents registered their first point and with a few converted frees they settled into the game . That said McMahon and Bobby O'Brien tagged on points towards the end of first half and ensure a 2 goal cushion at half time with the score reading.2-4 to 0-4.

Despite conceding the first score of the second half Ballinabrackey soon found their rhythm and it was score for score for the next 10 minutes. It was then that Ballinabrackey enjoyed their best spell taking over at midfield and stretching the Ratoath defence to the limit. They scored the next four points without reply and but for some wayward shooting resulting in a lot of wides Ratoath could well have found themselves losing this match. Ratoath managed to hang on though and with an inspirational score from O'Brien and an insurance point from Joey Wallace Ratoath managed to stem the tide and run out for 4 point winners. Best for Ratoath were Bryan MacMahon, Joey Wallace,Daragh Macgill,Gavin Quigley and Bobby O'Brien
