Kiltale already through to the semi-final had an unimpressive 2 pts victory against a hungrier Kildalkey team battling for survival in Boardsmill Saturday evening.

Kiltale started without Philly Garvey,David Donoghue and Cathal Mc Cabe from their victory over Kilmessan in the previous round and Mark O'Sullivan only home from America was not even on the subs bench.

Kildalkey on the other hand welcomed back Enda Keogh who lined out at full forward and caused the Kiltale defence a lot of problems.

Kildalkey were the hungrier team and played most of the hurling as Kiltale battled just to stay in the game.

The first half was nip and tuck with both sides guilty of some bad misses but Kiltale got 5 pts of which Peter Durnin and Jack Regan hit two and the other came from the outstanding Stephen Donoghue after a solo run from his own half back line.

Kildalkey first half scores came from Seanie Heavey 3pts and 3pts from placed balls from David Harmon.

The second half was dominated by Kildalkey but this was not reflected on the scoreboard and Kiltale showed battling qualities to stay in the game.

Cillian O'Sullivan when brought out to the half forward line caused all sorts of problems and hit two massive points to keep Kiltale in the game.

Peter Durnin hit two great second half points when they were badly needed but at the end of the day it was down to the coolness of Jack Regan to slot over very important frees to secure Kiltale victory.

Kiltale introduced Anthony Forde in the last quarter and he looked very sharp not having played since the county final last year.

The champions have a strong panel with all their players now available and Willie Mahady due home in the coming weeks.
