Simonstown 1-12
St Peters Dunboyne Kilbride 0-9

Simonstown claimed the Meath Under 16 Division 1 Football League title with a six point win over St Peters Dunboyne Kilbride at Pairc Tailteann. This very talented bunch of footballers continue to make great strides as two years previous they swept all before them at under 14 level.

The teams were fairly even in the opening half. Dunboyne were first to score when Calvin McMahon pointed. Conor Keeley stretched their lead before points from Ben Hoey and Chris O'Neill levelled the game. Further points from Cillian Farrell, Jake Powderly and Graham Nelson pushed Simonstown ahead for the first time, 0-5 to 0-4. Dunboyne went in at the break on level terms with a point from Mark Daly.

As in the first half the eartly stages of the second were even. Simonstown went two in front with points from Conor Nash and O'Neill. Good scores from McMahon, Jordan McLooughlin and Keeley (2) left Dunboyne trailing by the minimum 0-10 to 0-9 after twenty minutes. For the final ten Simonstown found that extra gear. Scores from the outstanding Brian McGrath and Ben Hoey gave them a three point advantage before very stylish full foward Chris O'Neill finished of the game with a fine goal.

After the game sponsor Pat O'Reilly (O'Reilly & Co Solicitors) and John Kavanagh Minor Board Chairman presented the U16 Div 1 FL Cup to Simonstown captain Brian McGrath.
