Gaeil Colmcille 1-4
Syddan 0-9
Gaeil Colmcille came up short against Syddan and lost by two points in the second round IFC game played in Carlanstown.
Brian Hanlon got them on the board from a free after twelve minutes, and two points from Keith Reilly finished off a low scoring first half leaving Gaeils leading by (0-3) to (0-2) at half time.
In the second half the Syddan men threw everything at the Kells side scoring some fine points. Then the Gaeils had their full forward Martin Barrett sent off after ten minutes.
With Gaeils down to fourteen men, Syddan kicked some further points to lead by five going into the last ten minutes.
Then centre forward Alan Hickey took off on a great run through the middle, to fire home a great goal to give the Gaeils some hope, but Syddan got another point to lead by three.
Cormac Keegan scored a point for the Gaeils but it was not enough and Syddan held out for a two point win.
