St. Michaels 1-10

Played in Kells - 30/4/2011
Carnaross got the better of neighbours St. Michaels in a game played at a hectic pace throughout.
Niall McDonnell opened the scoring in the first minute with a point from play. Things got better for Carnaross in the second minute when John L McGee made no mistake finishing to the back of the net from close range. A point from Peter Mullan and a fisted effort from McGee left Carnaross six points clear after just five minutes. St Michaels then got off the mark before doubling their tally soon afterwards. Both sides traded points before a Kevin Cassidy goal brought St. Michaels back into the game going into the last ten minutes. McGee converted another point for Carnaross but it was St Michaels who finished the half strongest and with Brendan Ryan dominating midfield St. Michaels took control and points from Daithi Regan (0-3) and Ben Farrell (0-1) without reply to leave the sides level at half-time on 1-7 each.
A point for St Michaels gave them the lead for the first time. Niall McDonnell levelled matters once more. St Michaels hit the front again with a point from play. Carnaross began to dominate the game from then on and three McGee points put them two in front with ten minutes remaining. Another point from Niall McDonnell and three more frees from John L McGee, who finished an outstanding performance with 1-10, ensured Carnaross of their first win.
