The future of Mayo manager James Horan hangs in the balance due to a number of 'logistical issues' with the County Board.
The Irish Examiner reports that the Ballintubber clubman - who won two Connacht SFC titles and reached this year's All-Ireland final in his two years in charge - is seeking clarification on a number of matters which he feels hindered his team's preparations at different times this season.
The provision of training pitches, the availability of MacHale Park and hotel bases for matches in Dublin are understood to be issues that Horan wants resolved before he commits to the final year of his three year term.
A source close to the manager said: "The team has made great progress over the past two years and James is very happy with the players and the way they have developed.
"They have given huge loyalty to the county and he couldn't ask for more from them, but there are a number of other issues to be sorted out if Mayo are going to make the next step."
The news will come as a surprise to Mayo followers who will be hoping that Horan stays on to build on the progress made over the last two years.
