Maughan rules out Mayo return

Former Mayo manager John Maughan
John Maughan isn't believed to be interested in returning to the Mayo football hotseat.

Maughan, who led the Westerners to All-Ireland final appearances in 1996, '97 and 2004 and also had spells in charge of Clare, Fermanagh and Roscommon, insists his only focus at the moment is on his current position with Crossmolina.

"I love being involved in football, I love being involved in Crossmolina football, and that's my focus at the moment," he said.

Mayo chairman James Waldron revealed that "nothing can be ruled in or out" ahead of Friday week's deadline for nominations for the vacant manager's job.

"It would be nice to have a manager in place for the closing stages of the club championships so they could have their selectors in place and do some scouting," he said.

"We can rule nothing in or out. It would be nice to have a manager from within the county but we'll just have to wait and see who is nominated, what kind of experience is out there."
