Barden's faithful ambition

November 04, 2006
Longford dual star Paul Barden says he always had faith in his own ability to represent Ireland at International Rules. Barden was a member of the Irish panel in 2002 but injury ruled him out of any involvement. The Longford ace is thrilled to get his chance against the Aussies four years after his false start. "To get the call-up for Ireland is just great," Barden said. "I always believed that I was good enough and I was close in the past, but it's amazing to play for your country. "I was in the squad in 2002, but I got injured before the first test so I wasn't able to play so I was delighted to make my first appearance."
