Longford name three debutants
April 30, 2002
Three players will make their Leinster SFC debuts for Longford against Louth at Navan on Sunday.
Newcomers Fintan Coyle, Ronan Clyne and David Barden have been chosen at left full back, left half forward and right full forward respectively. Barden's brothers, Enda and Paul, will line out at midfield and centre forward respectively. A notable absentee from the team is David Hanniffy who is spending the summer in the US.
The midlanders beat Louth in the corresponding game last year but their manager Denis Connerton stresses that circumstances were different back then.
"Louth had been inactive for most of the spring because of the foot and mouth outbreak so they weren't as match fit as they will be this year. They beat Kerry in the final round of the league which speaks for itself," he said.
