Longford's Enda William's keeps Dessie Dolan at bay
Former Longford centre back Enda Williams is on the verge of joining neighbours Leitrim.

A report in this week's Leitrim Observer suggests that the Clonguish clubman, who has relations in Aughavas, can declare for Leitrim under the parentage rule. The report adds that Williams' transfer is expected to go through in the coming days, but it's unlikely that he will be available for Leitrim's final Allianz Football League clash with Wicklow on Sunday week.

Williams - who first came to prominence as captain of the Longford minor team that won the Leinster minor championship a decade ago - should make his competitive debut for the Ridge County in the Connacht championship opener against London.

Leitrim, who have lost several key players in recent years through emigration, are also hoping to be able to call on two Dublin-born players, including Castleknock's Daragh McKiernan, for minor duty this year.
