Lavin gets Limerick hurling call-up

Stephen Lavin being tackled
Limerick football star Stephen Lavin has been called up to the county hurling squad ahead of the new season. The Adare clubman is one of four new players manager Richie Bennis has added to his panel for the 2008 campaign, the others being Damien Cosgrave (Monaleen), David Clancy (Granagh/Ballingarry) and Padraig Casey (Tournafulla). With confirmation of this quartet, it appears Lavin is the latest Limerick dual star to concentrate all his efforts on hurling, following in the footsteps of Brian Geary, Mike O'Brien, Stephen Lucey, Mark O'Riordan and Brian Begley. Bennis will also be running the rule over a number of others in the coming weeks, and there could be further additions to the squad when Limerick return from their team holiday in Florida in January.
