John Quane in possession
Limerick's long-serving midfielder John Quane has announced his retirement from inter-county football in the wake of his county's exit from the All-Ireland series. The Galtee Rovers clubman made his debut for the Shannonsiders in 1991 and was a member of the team which lost to Kerry by three points in the Munster final that year. He remained Limerick's most consistent player throughout the 1990s and was selected to represent Ireland in the International Rules series a few years ago. Despite Limerick's improved fortunes under Liam Kearns in recent years (they appeared in the last two Munster finals as well as last year's National League Division 2 decider), success continued to elude Quane who has now decided to call it a day after 14 seasons.
