Glasgow Women's Celtic Sports Festival
July 25, 2008
3-5 October 2008
Now entering it's third year the Tir Conaill Harps GAC, Glasgow is delighted to announce further information on the annual feile na mBan, the Glasgow Women's Celtic Sports Festival. For the first time yet we are holding the outdoor activities at Jimmy McGrory Park and the adjoining Glenconner Park, in the city's Garngad area, held over the weekend of 3rd to 5th October.
The festival theme is to raise the profile of women's gaelic sports both within the Harps club and also to the wider Glasgow community. Included for the first time will be a unique International match with the current Scotland ladies shinty team taking on a select team of the visiting camogie players from Ireland in a compromise rules game. There is also an adult gaelic football, camogie and schools gaelic football tournament. Those with an interest in coaching will also get the opportunity to be instructed by top coaches form Ireland in football, hurling and camogie and children interested in having a go at any of the sports will have the opportunity to do so. The festival wouldn't be complete without the Hooley which returns to Drummonds in the heart of the city centre. Music this year is provided by the very popular young Glasgow Irish celtic rock band The Amadhains Ticket details and outlets will be announced shortly.
Last year nine clubs from Ireland and Scotland took part, which was a big increase on the inaugural year. We hope to build on that success with even more teams this year. At the moment we have seven clubs from throughout Ireland confirmed. The club can offer advice on travel and accommodation. Further details are available from
[email protected] or on 00 44 780 1546663. Regular updates will also appear on the club website <>www.conaill.fsnet.co.uk
