Clare Ladies Board Press Release U-16 Munster Championship Preview Clare .v. Waterford Venue: Clonmel Date: Thursday, June 21st Time: 7.00pm Clare have high hopes of a good campaign in this year's Munster U-16 Championship and open their fixture list when facing Waterford this Thursday evening in Clonmel. This year's U-16 format will feature an All Ireland B competition for the first time and Clare will be hopeful that this door will be open to them should they fail in the Munster A division. This team features many of the players that ran Cork very close in the Munster U-14 A final two years ago so there is an abundance of talent and experience in the side. Many of the panel have also the benefit of winning All Ireland Féile championships with the banner ladies over the past two seasons and this too should stand to Clare in this years Munster championship. Clare's recent form against Waterford at U-16 level is good and given that the team have prepared well for this game the hope is that a victory will be secured on Thursday evening. The Clare panel is as follows: Niamh Martin, Niamh Cavanagh, Laurie Ryan, Louise Woods, Caoimhe O'Dea, Shonagh Enright, Niamh O'Dea, Megan Hough, Aoife Davoren, Naomi Carroll (The Banner), Lisa Loughnane (Clooney/Quin), Eimear O'Connor, Niamh O'Connell, Sinéad Moloney (Coolmeen), Rebecca Smyth, Sally Glynn, Rachel Garry (Cooraclare), Aoife Murphy (Doora/Barefield), Clodagh McNeilis, Laura Meaney (Fergus Rovers), Ailish Considine, Eimear Considine (Kilmihil), Cliona Falvey, Rebecca O'Regan (Liscannor), Sinéad Griffin (Miltown), Roisín McMahon, Carol O'Leary, Carol Kaiser (Newmarket), Rachel Ryan (Shannon Gaels), Ciara Harvey, Grace Walsh (West Clare Gaels). The team bus for Thursday's game will depart Miltown at 3.15pm, the West County Hotel at 3.45pm and Newmarket at 4.00pm. Clare Ladies Intermadiate Team The Clare Intermediate ladies team are also in action this coming weekend when they travel to Cavan to play the Breffni ladies in the second round of this year's All Ireland Intermediate championship. Clare were bitterly disappointed with their opening round match against Tipperary when they suffered a comprehensive defeat and they will know that a much improved performance will be required this weekend if they are to harbour any real ambitions of championship honours this season. Manager Deirdre Murphy will have a full panel available for selection and Deirdre and her selectors are hopeful of a good performance. The exact time and venue for this game is still awaited but a Sunday afternoon match is anticipated. Clare Ladies U-12 A Championship Final The 2007 U-12 A Championship final will take place this Tuesday, June 19th in Clarecastle GAA grounds with a 7.00pm throw in. Contesting this year's final will be the holders The Banner Ladies from Ennis and last year's Clare B champions the Newmarket Ladies. This should be a great game of football as both teams are sprinkled with an array of up and coming young stars. When both teams met earlier in the championship Newmarket had a decisive 2 - 6 to 2 - 1 victory in a thrilling game. County U-12 stars Orlaith Lynch (The Banner) and Niki Kaiser (Newmarket) are expected to play major roles in this eagerly awaited contest. The game will be refereed by Orlaith Griffin of Fergus Rovers and parents and supporters of both teams are urged to turn out in great numbers to give support to two excellent teams. Marion Keane Memorial Annual U-10 Blitz Six teams from Cooraclare, The Banner, Éire Óg and Doora/Barefield competed in this annual competition in memory of the late Marion Keane at the Doora/Barefield club grounds in Gurteen on Saturday last. Following a series of hugely entertaining matches the Banner club of Ennis eventually emerged victorious following a final win over host club Doora/Barefield. Ten matches in all were played and the standard of skill on show was of the highest order from all the participants. Credit to Doora/Barefield and the Keane family for hosting this now annual competition and credit also their excellent organising on the day. Following the final game Clare Ladies Board chairman James Lafferty presented the Marion Keane Memorial trophy to winning captain Marie Clune of the Banner.
