September 27, 2005
An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern did the honours on Monday 26th September when launching the International Ladies Football tournament at Croke Park. The tournament is part of the build-up to next Sunday's womens All-Ireland finals in Croke Park and will feature 30 teams. Over 300 players from teams based in Australia, Canada, South America, United States and Britain will take part in the extravaganza over the next five days at the Naomh Mearnog GAA grounds. "The most encouraging aspect is that our game has grown in popularity in non-Irish communities and is thriving all over the world," Women's Football CEO Helen O'Rourke enthused at the launch.
