Na Gaeil Ladies Munster Champions
Congratulations to Na Gaeil ladies who were crowned Munster Ladies Junior Club champions after defeating Ballylanders Limerick emphatically in Kilmallock on Saturday.

It took Na Gaeil 10 minutes to settle down but once they did they played some fine football. Louise Ni Mhuirteartaigh scored the first score a free on the third minute with Ballylanders full forward Jackie Lynch replying with a well taken point on the fifth minute. Ballylanders were a fine physical team and put pressure on Na Gaeil in the early stages. For the next 10/15 minutes Na Gaeil dominated & were playing well all over the pitch. Louise converted 2 further frees and a point from play. On the 16th minute Sarah Cunningham scored her first point. The first goal came from Louise as she converted a penalty on the 17th minute with Sarah adding her second point straight away. On the 20th minute Ballylanders scored their second score a pointed free scored by Mairead Kelly. The score stood at 1.06 to 0-.02. Na Gaeil replied with Sarah Cunningham scoring 2 more points. Na Gaeil then struck for their second goal a well taken goal from Shauna Heaslip. It was becoming a very difficult task for Ballylanders to keep the Na Gaeil forwards in check however Sarah Frewen did pop over a point for Ballylanders on the 26th minute. But Na Gaeil again replied in kind with 2 points from Sarah Cunningham & one by Emily Brick. The final score of the half went to Ballylanders centre forward Rosemary Rea with a converted free. The half time score stood at Na Gaeil 2.11 Ballylanders 0.04.

It was very hard to see any way back for Ballylanders in the second half. They went very defensive in the second period & only managed one score from their midfielder Mairead Kelly a point. While Na Gaeil added their third goal from substitute Meabh Horgan who also added a point to the Na Gaeil tally. Further scores coming from Marie Quirke, Louise Ni Mhuirteartaigh, Eilis O'Connor & Sarah Cunningham. Final Score Na Gaeil 3.20 Ballylanders 0.05. Riona Ni Cinneide accepted the cup on behalf of her team. Sarah Cunningham was awarded player of the match, presented to her by Anthony o Brien vice president of Munster Ladies Gaelic Football.

On the weekend of the 16th/17th of November Na Gaeil progress to play the Connacht champions either Louisburgh from Mayo or Roscommon Shannon Gaels. That game takes place this weekend with Louisburgh tipped to come from here as they defeated a strong Galway team en route to the final.

Kerry's Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh is the Munster Ladies Footballer Of The Year. The girl from the Gaeltacht village of Baile an Fheirtearaigh on the Dingle Peninsula completes a unique double as she won the young player award in 2007. She was in devastating form for Kerry in their Munster campaign this season as they won their first provincial crown in ten years, defeating eventual All Ireland champions Cork. A stand out highlight was her two goals against the rebels in the first round Munster game in Cahirciveen. Her cross-field delivery to set up Kerry's third goal was widely acclaimed as Kerry went on to win with many likening it to a Maurice Fitzgerald special. High praise indeed. She continued this form to the Final where she contributed 0-6 to her team's total. Ni Mhuircheartaigh was a forward on fire throughout the Kerry campaign this year and ended up with a personal haul of 10-55 including 0-6 in the Munster final win. Including a player of the game performance against Mayo where she scored 1-9. She is a past pupil of Pobal Scoil Chorca Dhuibhne she is currently a student in UCC. Last season saw her pick up an All Star Award, claim an O'Connor cup medal for UCC (Their first title in 22 years) and reach the All Ireland final. She is nominated for an All Star Award this season. She is also a talented handballer with many county and national titles at underage. It caps off a great week for Louise, as she collected a Munster Junior Club title with Na Gaeil on Saturday.

Commiserations to Southern Gaels who were defeated Sunday in the Munster Ladies Senior Plate Final by Mourn abbey Cork.  Southern Gaels battled hard against the highly experienced Cork outfit. But Mourneabbey hit the net in crucial times in the first half to make it an even more difficult task. Lisa O'Sullivan however did hit the back of the Mourneabbey net for the Southern side. Final Score Mourneabbey 7-08 Southern Gaels 1-08.

Congratulations to Scartaglin/Spa on winning the Azzurri Sport Senior B Final Sunday, in their first year together in Senior Championship. They defeated North Kerry in Knocknagoshel. The North Kerry side never got going & struggled with the running & overlaps created by Scartaglin/Spa. However but for wasteful shooting by Scartaglin/Spa there was only 6 points in it at half time. However Rosie Young was replaced at half time due to illness & North Kerry struggled without her leadership on the field. In the second half they could only manage a solitary point. Scartaglin/Spa ran out convincing winners in the end. Final Score North Kerry 1-03 Scartaglin/Spa 3-13. Mary Courtney Kerry Ladies County Board presented the cup to Katie Gleeson Captain of Scartaglin/Spa.

The 2013 Kerry Ladies Award Night will take place on the 16th of November in the Heights Hotel in Killarney. The Kerry Senior Ladies will be presented their All Ireland League Medals and Munster Medals. Clubs will be presented with their medals also for 2013 as well as various other awards. Tickets are €30 which includes a 3 course meal and a brilliant night's entertainment.

Tickets need to be booked and paid for by the 1st November. If you need tickets please contact County Secretary Mary Courtney at [email protected].

The concluding stages of the Rhyno Quality Feeds county league take place on Sunday. First up is the Div 4 B Final between Dingle & Causeway. That game will take place in Caherslee at 11.45. Both teams have had a tough league campaign but Causeway performed well in Championship & will hope to translate that form to the final. Second game is the Div 1 B Final between Listowel Emmets & Southern Gaels, at 12 venue TBC. Southern Gaels have had an extra few games under their belt as a result of making the county final & a Munster Final so hopefully players will have garnered experience from that. However fatigue from a long season may also be setting in. Listowel unfortunately have not played a competitive game for weeks & may be ring rusty. In this North versus South Kerry clash would be tipping a South win.

Best of luck to the U13 Development Squads who head to Mallow for an inter county blitz on Saturday 26th October. They have been training under the watchful eye of the development coaches since September & will head to Cork in best possible manner. All details for parents available on website & social media.
