July 28, 2010
A new sponsorship deal between Specsavers and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association will ensure all of the sport's national All Ireland panel of referees have their eyes firmly focused on the game.

The sponsorship will provide a new referee jersey design and support kit for the 60 strong panel of national competition referees. The panel officiate all Ladies Football national competitions including the All Ireland Championships, the National Leagues, the All Ireland Club Championships, the All Ireland Club Sevens and the All Ireland Schools finals.

The two year deal will see the Specsavers logo adorn the new national referees kit and will see all national panel referees receive complimentary eye examinations.

Speaking at the sponsorship launch, CEO of Ladies Gaelic Football, Helen O'Rourke, commented, "It is great to get such a well known and respected brand as Specsavers on board as a partner to the Association. Our national panel of volunteer referees travel the length and breadth of the country and this sponsorship will provide them with some much deserved support. This is another clear signal that high profile sponsors want to be associated with Ladies Football, the most popular female sport in Ireland."

Seamus Breslin, store director of Specsavers, commented, 'This sponsorship highlights Specsavers' professionalism and commitment to Irish sport. Specsavers stores are owned and managed by Irish opticians and business partners, who employ thousands of Irish people and serve communities across Ireland. Many of our staff and customers play and support Gaelic Football and we're thrilled to be the first ever sponsor of the Ladies' Gaelic Football Referees.

"As opticians, we understand that good vision is vital to good sportsmanship and the integrity of referee's decisions. Our sponsorship will ensure the refs are seeing clearly - something that is sure to resonate with the refs and fans.'
