Kildare SHC: Moloney on fire for holders
October 11, 2010
Five points from Mark Moloney proved decisive as Celbridge edged out Coill Dubh to retain their Kildare SHC title at Newbridge.
Celbridge 0-12
Coill Dubh 1-8
Celbridge led by 0-5 to 0-4 at the end of an entertaining first quarter, but scores weren't as plentiful in the second quarter as Celbridge took a 0-7 to 0-6 lead into the break.
The Dublin-border side looked to have finally shaken off their opponents' challenge when Tony Murphy pointed to give them a 0-9 to 0-6 lead after 42 minutes. But Coill Dubh got themselves back into it thanks to a Chris Byrne goal four minutes later and it took two late points from man of the match Moloney to seal Celbridge's success.
