No truth in Brick move

November 23, 2004
Limerick County Board secretary James Hartigan has strenuously denied that Kerry hurler Shane Brick had been approached to transfer to the Shannonsiders. Brick is a student at the Mary Immaculate College in Limerick and the 23-year-old is alleged to have stated that he was approached to see if he would make the move across the Shannon. But, Hartigan has rubbished such reports and stressed that no such transfer could take place, as Brick is only a student and not a resident in the county. "The first I heard of it was when I read it in the newspaper," said Hartigan. "Shane Brick is a student and does not qualify for an inter county transfer. End of story." Brick has been of Kerry's most outstanding hurlers for the past few years and has been their top scorer since making the breakthrough to the senior team five years ago.
