Kilmoyley..........3-9 Na Piarsaigh...1-12 Kerry hurling received a massive shot in the arm when Kilmoyley staged a superb comeback to shock Cork's Na Piarsaigh in the Munster senior club hurling league Division 1 final at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney on Saturday, November 22. The Kerry champions made their intentions known in the opening quarter when they stormed into a 0-7 to 0-3 lead with Ollie Giggins accounting for four of their points from placed balls. However, Na Piarsaigh dominated the second quarter with scores from John Gardiner and the two Stephen O'Sullivans propelling them into a 0-10 to 0-7 interval lead. Na Piarsaigh strengthened their position within a minute of the restart when O'Sullivan jnr scored the opening goal. But Billy Brick almost immediately replied with a similar score for Kilmoyley who drew level in the 42nd minute thanks to another major from Brick. Twelve minutes from time, the Kerry champions hit the front when Tom Murnane's centre was finished to the net by substitute Richard Gentleman. Na Piarsaigh tried their utmost to salvage something from the game in the closing stages, but they were unable to break through a Kilmoyley defence which was superbly marshalled by James McCarthy.
