U21 'B' HC final: Kerry leave it late

September 13, 2009
Kerry added the All-Ireland under 21 'B' hurling title to their All-Ireland minor 'B' crown when late goals from Shane Nolan and substitute Thomas Moloney handed them victory over Roscommon at Cusack Park, Ennis. Kerry..2-18 Roscommon1-15 Roscommon made a dream start when John Coyne connected with David Dolan's sideline cut to find the net after only two minutes. However, Kerry were dominant for the rest of the first half, and aided by an excellent display of point-taking from Dara O'Connell and James Flaherty, had built up a 0-11 to 1-3 lead by half-time. The pendulum swung back in Roscommon's favour after the restart when they scored eight of the next nine points to take a 1-11 to 0-12 lead. Niall Kilroy scored four points in the third quarter. But the Kingdom never gave up and with O'Connell to the fore and Nolan and Moloney scoring goals in the last 10 minutes, they eventually prevailed.
