All-Ireland MHC 'B' semi-final: Kerry rout Royals

August 15, 2009
Kerry 4-23 Meath 0-10 Padraig Boyle produced a virtuoso display as Kerry booked their place in next weekend's All-Ireland MHC 'B' final with an emphatic victory over Meath at Toomevara on Saturday. The 15-year-old bagged 3-6 as the Kingdom set up a final date with Westmeath in stunning fashion. Boyle netted twice in the first half to help the Kingdom to a 2-6 to 0-7 interval lead, despite the fact that they had played against the wind. And the Royals' challenge faded completely after their centre forward Mark O'Sullivan received a straight red card for a wild pull four minutes after the restart. Making the most of their numerical advantage, Kerry streaked away with further majors from Shane Nolan and Boyle in the 40th and 51st minutes. Shane Dunne, Stephen Leen and Brian Leen were also on target as the Kingdom outscored their hapless opponents by 2-17 to 0-3 in the most one-sided of second halves.
