O'Rahilly's reach Kerry league decider
December 15, 2008
Beaten Kerry football finalists Kerins O'Rahilly's will get a second shot at glory when they meet Milltown/Castlemaine in the Division 1 league final.
The date of the tie will be decided after tonight's county convention in Tralee. Both sides finished level on points following their respective victories over Gneeveguilla and St. Michael's/Foilmore on Sunday.
Even without the Walsh brothers, Tommy and Barry John, Micheal Quirke and Brendan Quill, Jack O'Connor's men cruised to a 3-12 to 1-8 win over beaten county intermediate finalists Gneeveguilla. The Strand Road outfit were never troubled after a brace of early goals from Barry John Keane helped them to a 2-5 to 0-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Young substitute Johnny Keane put the icing on the cake with a third goal in the second half.
Milltown had it even easier against Munster intermediate champions St. Michael's/Foilmore's second string who they defeated by 2-13 to 1-2. St. Michael's had beaten St. Mary's 2-8 to 1-8 in the South Kerry championship semi-final the previous day and made 14 changes.
