Davy Fitzgerald and the "no comment" interview

Davy Fitzgerald gave one of the most awkward interviews we've seen in a long time to RTE reporter Claire McNamara after Clare's narrow Munster SHC defeat to Limerick.

The Banner boss repeatedly used the phrase "no comment" when asked to elaborate on why he was so frustrated with the outcome.

It's likely that Fitzgerald, who followed referee Colm Lyons down the tunnel after the final whistle, was unhappy with the lack of injury-time allotted at the end of the game and with the fact that his side was only awarded one free in the second half.

"It's pretty easy if you analyse that stats of the game, why we lost the game," he said.

"I'm bitterly disappointed, I didn't think we deserved to lose that game.

"There was a lot of stuff questioned about us today and there was a lot of people who had written us off and a lot of people in our own county who had written us off. These guys are phenomenal and all we need is a fair break and we'll give any team a game of it.

"Trust me, I'm there for a few more years and we'll keep coming back and we might get a beating or two but we'll keep coming back."

When asked about Clare captain Pat Donnellan's straight red card on the stroke of half-time and the second half dismissal of Limerick's Seanie Tobin, the 2013 All-Ireland winning manager replied: "I didn't see it. It's a tough enough one to take, I'm sure Donal O'Grady is fine in there and you could say the same for their man who was sent off. It's a game of hurling, it's 50-50, if someone is badly injured I can accept something.

"I don't think we're a dirty team, that's for sure."
