Dublin football star Diarmuid Connolly bagged a brace of goals as the St. Vincent's hurlers routed Parnells 6-21 to 0-13 at Parnell Park yesterday to qualify for the county SHC quarter-finals in impressive fashion.

Lining out at full forward, Connolly hit the net in the eighth and 19th minutes to give the Marino men a 3-9 to 0-9 interval lead. Alan Moore also raised a couple of green flags in the second half as the Vins set up a last-eight showdown with in-form Kilmacud Crokes.

In the Parnell Park curtain-raiser, O'Toole's overcame Na Fianna by 1-27 to 2-15, having led by 0-14 to 0-6 at half-time. Sean Burke's 38th minute goal gave Na Fianna hope, but the Larriers immediately responded weith a goal of their own from Peadar Carton to put the result beyond doubt.

At O'Toole Park, Ciaran Brennan's goal helped Faughs to a 1-24 to 2-12 victory over St. Brigid's, while Colm Cronin scored 1-4 for Cuala as they accounted for Craobh Chiarain on a 2-16 to 1-8 scoreline.

Cuala will face holders Ballyboden St. Enda's in the quarter-final, O'Toole's will take on Lucan Sarsfields, while Faughs will meet neighbours St. Jude's.
