Down 3-20
Armagh 1-11
James Coyle, Scott Nicholson, Johnny McCusker raised green flags as Christy Ring champions Down scored a convincing 15-point victory over Armagh in the Ulster SHC quarter-final at Newry today.
Eight days after springing a surprise on Kerry in the Christy Ring Cup final at Croke Park, Down maintained their winning ways against the Orchard County.
Coyle's strike boosted the Mourne men to a 1-4 to 0-2 lead by the 12th minute and they led by 2-8 to 1-7 at the change of ends after Nicholson struck for a second goal.
It was all one way traffic in the second half as Ger Monan's charges pulled away when outscoring the visitors by 1-12 to 0-4.
McCusker's goal was the icing on the cake of a fine all-round performance by the team in red and black.
Down's reward is a last four clash against Derry in Casement Park on Sunday, June 30th.
