ALL STAR LINE UP ON THE EVE OF HURLING FINAL
Nicky English and Liam Fennelly to host Legends Tours on eve of All-Ireland Final
As Kilkenny seek to win their fifth All-Ireland title in a row and Tipperary try to win their first since 2001 two former greats from both sides, Liam Fennelly and Nicky English, will each host a one-off GAA Museum Legends Tour on the eve of the Hurling Final, Saturday 4th September.
The decorated players, who both played as full forwards, will host special behind-the-scenes tours of Croke Park, focusing on their famous playing careers with 'The Cats' and the 'Premier County' respectively.
Fennelly is one of Kilkenny's all-time greats and during his playing days with the county he amassed an impressive tally of medals and awards, which includes three All-Ireland titles, six Leinster titles and four All-Star awards. He is also the only captain in the history of the GAA to lift both the original and new Liam MacCarthy Cups.
English's career is just as impressive as Fennelly's as he collected two All-Ireland titles, five Munster titles and six All-Star awards. In 1989 he was also awarded the coveted 'Hurler of the Year' award. A decade later he took over as manager of the senior team, whereby he led Tipp to Munster and their last All-Ireland success in 2001.
The Legends Tour Series, which started in 2008, has been a huge success at the GAA Museum, with many fans flocking to the stadium to get a unique 'behind-the-scenes' tour from their hurling and gaelic football heroes.
These special tours provide GAA fans with an unforgettable opportunity to hear memories and anecdotes from the players and managers who have lit up Croke Park on so many occasions.
All tours include a trip to the newly refurbished GAA Museum. The Museum is home to exclusive exhibits, such as the original Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy cups.
