First ever Harty success for Ardscoil Ris
March 11, 2010
Limerick's Ardscoil Ris finally got their hands on the Munster Colleges SHC Harty Cup with a convincing second replay final win over Thurles CBS.
The 3-15 to 0-14 win at McDonagh Park in Nenagh was the first time the famed trophy has gone to the Limerick school, and it took three games before they finally dethroned the 2009 champions.
Niall Kennedy grabbed the first goal early on as the Limerick school led by 1-1 to no score and another major from Brendan O'Connor five minutes before the break had them nine points clear, before Thurles hit a run of four successive scores to go in at the break trailing by 0-8 to 2-7.
The Tipperary school had the gap down to just three points when Mark Ryan landed goal number three for Ardscoil and from there on in there was only going to be one winner.
