Dublin's dynamic duo of Eoin Kennedy and Egin Jensen have taken another step forward in the M DONNELLY All-Ireland Senior Doubles championship by beating Wexford's Tommy Hynes and Colin Keeling in their quarter-final clash on Saturday.
Kennedy and Jensen were in top form in the opening game, winning 21-2 and while the Model County men improved in the second, they lost out 21-16. The Dubliners will now continue in their bid to collect a fourth All-Ireland Senior Doubles crown in succession.
Meanwhile, number two seeds, Mayo's Joe McCann and Dessie Keegan overcame Westmeath father and son partnership, Robbie McCarthy Junior and Senior. Despite a slow start, the Mayo men won the first 21-8 and competed well in the second to take the game 21-14.
The Mayo pair will now face Wexford duo, Cormac Smyth and Gavin Buggy, who overcame Gary McConnell and Carl Browne (Meath) in their quarter-final outing. Smyth and Buggy lost the first 11-21 before turning the match around to win the next two games, 21-6, 21-10.
Elsewhere, Meath's second pairing, Brian Carroll and Tom Sheridan booked their semi-final against the Dubs, after a 21-9, 21-15 win over the Kerry partnership of JJ Quirke and Dominic Lynch.
