Ballygar Hurling Club Notes
November 07, 2011
Ballygar 2-13 Calary ST Josephs (Sligo) 1-6.
Ballygar were crowned Connauht Junior Hurling Champions in Ballinasloe last Sunday. Played in excellent conditions a fine performance was produced and a hard years work was rewarded. They say a week is a long time in sport well the past seven days is testament to this. Playing three games in a week is never easy, throw in poor weather conditions and heavy pitches makes it harder. But it was all worth it hen the referee blew the final whistle and set off scenes of great celebrations. It goes some way towards making up for final defeat. In winning the provincial title we now go on to represent Galway and Connaught in the AIB All IREland club series.
Great credit must go the players and management who stuck together after the county final and got training going again and pulled off this remarkable weeks endeavors.
The club would like to thank the people of the parish who gave us such a warm welcome home. It is greart to look forward to an All-Ireland semi-final in tyhe new year.
