Laois vs Longford

(Oldest Posts First)

This Sunday's Leinster senior football championship first round clash between Laois and Longford at O'Moore Park should be an interesting one.

This thread will be used to discuss the game, with the winners set to face Kildare on June 4th.

Hard one to call, should be an interesting game alright. It could be a draw. Going for a Longford win though.
Longford 2+

Think Longford will win too, they had a great championship last year and I thought they might be promoted to division 2 at the start of the year. If they want to push on again, they obviously need to win a game like this, given the league Laois had.

Laois are better than they showed in the league, they shouldn't be in div.4. Think home advantage will swing it for them.

longford need a win here imo, performed really well in some games in the qualifiers in recent years and picked up wins up in derry and down. but they need to get wins in leinster. laois are better than they showed in the league, but this is a real opportunity for longford to make some inroads in leinster.

Can't see any result other than a Longford win .

Laois have been so poor this year altho they did beat the same opposition in the league not so long ago.

Living locally here in Portlaoise all the talk is that they have up to 5 players back on the panel they didn't have in the league but are now struggling with other niggly injuries.

One thing is for sure a decent game of football is nearly guaranteed as Laois are very attacking and Longofrd tend to go for it...

Looking forward to spending 15 euro and go across the road and watch it.

Two mediocre teams but it should be close. Portlaoise hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us. Padraig McCormack is a loss & Laois have some seasoned campaigners back. We're playing some very slow & negative football at times. Instead of taking a few notable scalps in the Qualifiers, I'd much prefer we got to a Leinster semifinal...something we haven't done in 30 years!
