Donegal will be delighted they cant play either Kerry or Mayo then!

Ollie is the stage that you go out at not determining which group you go into anymore, gone? I remember if Meath went out in quarters or semis of Leinster they went into one side, but if they lost in final it was another one.

You are correct , it is at the stage that you get beat that matters.

I know if Donegal lose to Tyrone , we go to A and if we lose to Monaghan, we go go B.

So it all hinges on what stage you get beat .

Each half of a Provincial draw goes to a side in the qualifiers.

The final though obviously has a team from both halves of the draw, so half the teams will switch sides when they reach the Provincial final.

I think the Munster and Connacht losing finalists are always on the A side because their final is earlier, although I could be wrong on that.

Meath are on side A in Leinster but if they get to the final they'll switch to side B. Dublin will be side B regardless.

Royaldunne Meath will be in Group A regardless because they will lose to the winners of Louth and Wicklow haha. See you in Parnell on Sunday. An Lu Abu!

That was my understanding of it too. The whole reason the A and B sections were introduced was to put a bit of structure to the qualifier draws - and a team only moves from A to B if they reach their provincial final. Dates and the order for the provincial finals can change year to year but the first 2 provincial losers will go into the A group and the second 2 will go into the B group regardless of what side they were on to begin with.

If you Google
gaa masterplan 2017 pdf.
You will get the qualifier system.
From what I see you stay in either A or B right up to last rd of qualifiers.

No,all I'm saying is you stay on A or B side right up to the 1/4 finals where the connacht and munster champions play 2 winners on A side, avoiding repeat pairings if possible.
Ulster and Leinster play 2 winners on b side avoiding repeats.
Semi finals connacht or who beats them v munster or who beats them.
Leinster or who beats them v Ulster or who beats them.

I was nearly right apart from Down/Armagh . (I also had Waterford and limerick on the wrong sides).

so the round 2B qualifiers have been drawn.

Carlow v Leitrim
Westmeath v Armagh
Wexford v Monaghan
Cavan v Tipp.
Nice draw for Leitrim and Carlow . they will both have something to play for. I fancy Carlow.
I don't think Westmeath can recover from their mauling so I think Armagh will shade that one.
You would expect Monaghan to beat Wexford but Banty will be fired up big time.
and of course I would expect a tough game between ourselves and Tipp. hard to call that one.

Banty will be fired up alright but if our lads are not for this one we might as well go back to div4 where he found us. He is not as loved in Monaghan as the media seem to think. We arguably had a better group of players than now during his tenure and blew a few ulster. My bigger worry is we have a brutal record in last 10 yrs against Leinster opposition in qualifiers one win from six matches.

That's a bad record allright Seanie. That down game will have knocked the stuffing out oif yous too but I also think O'Rourke will have learnt a lot from that game

Tough draw for Tipp v Cavan with 11 injured players this could be the end of our season i'm afraid.
Nice to see Carlow / Leitrim get a chance of getting to the next round where they play a provincial final loser.
