With so much talk of splitting the football championship, has anyone any idea how it would be done!! div 3 and 4 in the b? the weaker sides in div 2 Longford and louth for example would have no chance as they would definatly be playing a top team!! any suggestions on how something like this could work ?? skuller (Limerick) - Posts: 35 - 27/05/2013 21:26:58 1393107 Link 0 |

A solution would be to pick 2 teams at random from Division 1,2,3, and 4 and group them together forming 4 playoff divisions. The top 2 teams in each respective pool progress to a knock out stage as in in a Champions League format. campbelltommy (Mayo) - Posts: 103 - 27/05/2013 21:32:52 1393116 Link 0 |

Scrap McKenna, O Byrne etc and have the provincial championship then. Follow this up with the league and then based on performance in the league, seed teams to go into an All Ireland series with group stages, quarters, semi and final. wile_man_sir (Donegal) - Posts: 150 - 27/05/2013 21:55:20 1393153 Link 0 |

Here's a novel idea, why not grade counties into, Senior Counties, Intermediate Counties and Junior Counties, oh wait! thats not a novel idea thats the way it used to be, thats the way club championships are organised, thats the way Ladies Football and Camogie is organised............what we have is simply a complete mess. Outside of about 6 counties in Inter-county hurling and football it is a pointless meaningless exercise. No one to blame but the powers that be. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4968 - 28/05/2013 09:01:04 1393196 Link 0 |

They had The Tommy Murphy Cup yet seemed to think they were too good for that and now there complaining there getting beat by the bigger teams. The way i see it they had there chance and didnt take it so now they should have to live with that moomoo (Kerry) - Posts: 4023 - 28/05/2013 09:20:02 1393205 Link 0 |

I am sorry but I am completley opposed to this idea. You get better by playing the best. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 28/05/2013 10:00:31 1393235 Link 0 |

All of the other competitions are divided into groups. The championship should stay as it is.Having 6 potential winners is good arock. Not many other tournaments in any sport have 6 potential winners. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 28/05/2013 10:07:45 1393237 Link 0 |
