Incredible calls in favour of Mayo including the most blatantly fouled goal you'll ever see at a crucial stage. Impossible task for Sligo when up against the referee as well. salvador (Roscommon) - Posts: 439 - 21/05/2017 16:32:44 1988831 Link 0 |
1951 that would be what 66 or 67 years, I've stopped counting at this stage

I thought he pulled Mayo up for a lot of fouling and let Sligo away with similar fouls but then you and I must have our county glasses on again

Got the win...I predicted a 7 point win and we won by 9 in the end. Sligo didn't deserve to be beat by that much who played a game of containment but didn't have the edge to go for it. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11241 - 21/05/2017 18:11:42 1988889 Link 0 |
Lot of tripe in castlebar today too,

Today was more or less as I expected, though I had been hoping for a bit more offensively from the half-forward line. Lots to work on and will need to go up another gear in Salthill. The wind didn't help, but both teams laboured today with very little spark. Another performance where Mayo managed to hide any discernible game plan. Still, happy to win. Sligo got most joy from going direct, but then Mayo didn't cover the fullback line, as they will likely do in the next game. Paddy Durcan showed his class again. Unimpressive performance on the whole but a win is a win. It's a little worrying that we still seem to lack a discernible game plan in attack, and we also benefited from a couple of soft calls from the officials. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 21/05/2017 20:03:41 1988968 Link 0 |
Tommy Brehany was the last "Sligo" manager who won anything... Before that was Paddy Cifford & Barnes Murphy... All Sligo men... Sligo had to go out today not to get crushed like in the Hyde but after 10min today Sligo should of had a plan if there were on top.... In my opinion we've ended up with managers that just play to a plan that will keep them safely in a job .... We're paying these managers+staff huge €€€ and all there interested in is keeping their job... larry4alaugh (Sligo) - Posts: 8 - 21/05/2017 20:41:58 1989005 Link 1 |
I forgot to say earlier how was Cillian O Conor's goal not a square ball? He was standing in there well before the ball came in that should of been an easy call for the umpires. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 21/05/2017 21:23:35 1989026 Link 0 |
Was Loftus not in the square when he passed the ball to him?

Now, now, no need to introduce logic into the debate!

Saw this on Twitter. The call is marginal however. Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 22/05/2017 08:19:41 1989119 Link 0 |
My bad, was wondering why it wasn't called a square ball, was just asking was Loftus not in the square. I didn't pay any heed until I saw the replay then was wondering how can that not be a square ball. That Twitter photo isn't clear. Cillian looks possibly not to be in the square, but a millisecond from it. Can't tell at all from it if the ball has left Loftus's hand, Cillian can't be in the square before that happens for it not be ruled a square ball. That's my interpretation of the rules but I'm no Brolly ! The refs and umpires surely had a great view. link GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7373 - 22/05/2017 10:20:15 1989188 Link 0 |
