'Ruffle-gate' is no more after the Central Hearing Committee of the GAA decided that Tiernan McCann's proposed eight week ban for discrediting the association was out of order.
McCann took a theatrical dive after Monaghan's Darren Hughes ruffled his hair in injury time during the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final. Hughes was issued with a red card for the incident by referee Marty Duffy and McCann found himself at the centre of a storm of controversy.
After intense criticism an eight week ban was proposed by the CCCC but Tyrone requested a hearing and were successful in the early hours of this morning, meaning McCann is free to face Kerry on Sunday.
