It has been confirmed that former Dublin All-Ireland winning defender Mick Deegan has been installed as the new Dublin junior football team manager. Deegan takes over the reins of his native county from Val Andrews in what is said to be viewed as a triumphant move on behalf of the Dublin County Board in appointing the 1995 All-Ireland winner. The new Dubs' junior came to prominence after guiding Fingal Ravens to the All-Ireland Intermediate Football Championship final. Despite being defeated in the decider by Galway and Connacht Champions Moycullen, Deegan could take pride in his achievement with the Ravens last year as he helped the team capture both Dublin and Leinster Intermediate Championship crowns, as wells as bringing the club to senior for the 2008 club season. In 2004, Deegan landed an All-Ireland wininng medal with Dublin's over-40 side and up to that point he had been serving as player-manager of his club side Erin's Isle. Since finishing with his native club, Deegan took over a Fingal Ravens side who would go on to supply six of the Dublin junior team who played in the first round of Leinster Championship against Wicklow last year.
