A late goal from debutant Ken Casey put a suitable gloss on a fine Offaly display in beating DIT in a rip-roaring O'Byrne Cup contest at Tullamore. Offaly 2-13 DIT 1-8 Casey had earlier hit the net in the 13th minute to put the hosts on the forefront. DIT circled the wagons though and they too got a goal when Meath's Cian Ward broke through in the 25th minute. Offaly led by 1-6 to 1-4 at the interval but soon after the restart DIT fell further behind with messrs. McNamee, Ward and Deehan tagging on points in quick succession. DIT could have lost out by more as the home side twice hit the woodwork and made a mess of two gilt-edged goalscoring chances. Tweet
