Dublin footballer David Henry has drawn the curtain down on his intercounty career.

The 31-year-old Raheny clubman informed Dubs manager Pat Gilroy of his decision yesterday and is the first member of the 2011 All-Ireland winning panel to retire from the county stage.

A former Sky Blues captain, the versatile Henry was an ever-present at corner back under Paul Caffrey but was unable to command a place in the starting XV last season.

He's also a gifted hurler but Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly has stated that Henry won't be following Conal Keaney, Shane Ryan and Ross O'Carroll into the Dublin hurling squad.
