Hickey appointed Dublin selector
October 06, 2009
Former Dublin football star Dr David Hickey was last night ratified as a selector in Pat Gilroy's management team.
Hickey replaces Paul Nugent, who had vacated the role due to business commitments.
Hickey, who is a consultant urologist and transplant surgeon based in Beaumont Hospital, was part of the great Dublin team which won All-Irelands in 1974, '76 and '77. He also picked up two National League medals in 1976 and '78, and was awarded All-Stars in 1974 and '76.
Former captain Colin Moran - who retired from football during the year due to injury - has also left the management team.
