New SFC format

The Donegal SFC is to change to a league format for 2013.
The Donegal Democrat reports that this year's championship will be run on the basis of four groups of four teams, league format, with quarter-finals, semi-finals and final and one team being relegated from the championship.
The new format will see an open draw from the nine Division One teams, the top six teams in Division Two and the Intermediate champions.
In the event of the Intermediate champions come from one of the two six teams in Division Two, the top seven teams will complete the line-up.
The groups, which will be named A, B, C and D will be drawn at random for the 16 teams with the top two teams in each group at the end of the three games league section qualifying for the knock-out quarter-final stage of the championship.
The bottom team in each group will play off to determine the one team to be relegated.
The new system replaces the old two legged first round format.
