Monaghan 3-16
Donegal 1-5
Monaghan inflicted a 17-point defeat on a makeshift Donegal side in Ballyboffey.
While the natives won't have liked the final scoreline, there are no alarm bells ringing in the home of the All-Ireland champions who fielded a team that bore little resemblance to Jimmy McGuinness' 2012 combination.
Monaghan had the first five point on the board before Adrian Hanlon goaled for the home side on the half hour mark. Gary McFadden pointed a minute latter but Farney points from Paul McArdle and Conor McManus had their side 0-7 to 1-1 ahead at the break.
It was one way traffic in the second period as Monaghan outscored the home side by 3-9 to 0-4. Straight from the throw in Keith McEnaney goaled and the points started to mount up for Malachy O'Rourke's charges. In the final ten minutes further goals from Dermot Malone and Darren Hughes wrapped up the points and set up a winner takes all encounter with Fermanagh on Wednesday night.
