Curran to lead Donegal
January 10, 2013
Donegal coach Marc 'Maxi' Curran will take charge of the side for the Dr McKenna Cup clashes.
Curran was on the line for last night's defeat to Fermanagh in the opening round of the early season competition and he will continue that role for their remaining two matches against Monaghan and St Mary's.
Donegal fielded a vastly inexperienced side against Fermanagh, with the majority of the players coming from the under-21 squad.
Manager Jim McGuinness has taken on a new job with Celtic football club, but this is believed to have nothing to do with Curran being on the line, according to selector Rory Gallagher.
Speaking to Gaelic Life he said: "Maxi will be looking after things on match days because it's primarily those young players who he already knows plenty about, so it makes sense for him to take the lead on this. We know that the players are in safe hands."
